Singer – composer Susanna Aleksandra’s Quartet brings together jazz musicians from Estonia and Finland. Susanna and Joonas Haavisto started working together in 2018. They share a common vision in giving music multiple layers by uniting complex harmonies and forms with meaningful lyrics and strong melodies. Susanna’s music is influenced by many styles including traditional and modern jazz, classical, popular and folk music. These influences are unified under the modern jazz umbrella, the stylistic choices of the musicians and the fantastic ensemble playing. As a vocalist, Susanna emphasizes storytelling. Her music honestly depicts her personal growth and experience.

In 2020, the band released the album “Souls of the Night” in Japan (blue Gleam). In January 2021, the album was internationally released under the name “The Siren” (Eclipse Music). The critically acclaimed album has received praise from all around the globe: the biggest European jazz magazine Jazzwise gave the album 4 stars. It was also listed among the albums of the month on Jazzwise and European Jazz Network, and was listed among albums of the year by the Japanese magazine Jazz Critique.

Susanna Aleksandra is a rising star in the world of jazz. Susanna did her Bachelor in Jazz Performance in the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Finland. Currently, she is finishing her Master’s at the Sibelius Academy with professor Jukkis Uotila and Doctor Aija Puurtinen. In 2020, she received a scholarship to USC Thornton School of Music where she studied with the two-time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Sara Gazarek, Grammy-winner Bob Mintzer, and vocal coach MzLyndia Johnson.

Joonas Haavisto is the only Stainway endorsed pianist in Finland. He is loved both by the audience and critics. He has released 4 albums with his trio, and has performed in festivals including Tokyo Jazz Festival, Pori Jazz, Jazzcolors Festival Pariisis, Jazzahead Bremenis jm.
