Christmas Jazz headliner Stacey Kent concert on December 2 has been cancelled due to the unfortunate passing of the singer’s mother. Instead of Stacey Kent, the Nordea Concert Hall stage on December 2 will feature American singer Shayna Steele together with Estonian Dream Big Band, conductor Siim Aimla.

American singer Shayna Steele’s talent and powerful voice has delighted audiences in intimate jazz clubs and big concert halls alike, where she often performs together with big bands and symphony orchestras. To Estonia she will fly directly from America, where she is currently working on her third album.

Steele’s career started in the genre of electronical music, when in 2005 she recorded together a well-known single of Moby “Raining Again” from album “Hotel”. The collaboration with Moby continued on his theme song to movie “The Bourne Ultimatum” named “Extreme Ways” in 2007 and in 2008 on single “Disco Lies” which reached #1 on the US Billboard Dance charts. Her voice has remained high in demand with vocals on movies like “Sex and the City 2”, “The Backup Plan” and HBO’s series “The Sopranos”.

Steele started writing music with her partner pianist David Cook in 2002. The two quickly developed a creative synergy, and their first collaboration on her eponymous debut-EP’s breakout soul-funk single “High Yella” achieved the attention she needed to raise her solo profile. The release of her first full-length album “I’ll Be Anything” (2009) put Shayna on the map as legitimate solo artist and soon after followed sold-out concerts all over America and Europe.

Reputation as a solo artist brought collaboration projects with Lizz Wright, Dave Douglas, Dolly Parton, Rihanna and many others, and in 2013 Shayna’s original composition “Gone Under” was recorded on the album of Snarky Puppy “Family Dinner Volume 1”. Her second full-length album “Rise” (2015) was recorded together with jazz stars like Christian McBride, Eric Harland, Marcus Miller etc. “Rise” received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike and reached #4 on the U.S. iTunes jazz charts. Shayna is currently in the studio finishing her third solo album with producer David Cook set to release in early 2018.

At Christmas Jazz concert on December 2 at Nordea Concert Hall Shayna Steele will take the stage together with Estonian Dream Big Band to perform jazz classics, bossa novas and Christmas spirited songs to Estonian audience.
