Lauri Kadalipp „State of Flow“ is an international trio, where saxophonist and bass clarinet player Lauri Kadalipp is joined by musicians who have deeply influenced him throughout his career, German pianist Florian Weber and Polish percussionist Bodek Janke. The artists began working together during Kadalipp’s masters programme in Germany. The main concept of State of Flow is, as the name suggests, based on a natural flow, a breathing.

Lauri Kadalipp is a saxophonist and composer, who has played in numerous bands and ensembles, performing everything from jazz to pop to folk. He writes music for a variety of different compositions, including bigbands and orchestras. At the moment, Lauri is finishing his studies of saxophone and jazz composition in Hamburg.

Bodek Janke is definitely a familiar name to jazz enthusiasts in Estonia – he has performed here before, for example with Kristjan Randalu. Janka is a very in-demand percussionist in the modern jazz scene today. Titled as a master by New York drum legend John Riley, Bodek’s unique drums can be heard on more than 200 albums, of which 10 have been released in his own name.

Florian Weber has had a remarkable international career – the frequency of his performances is nearly unbeatable. However this concert at Christmas Jazz will be his first in Estonia. In addition to his work as a jazz pianist, Forian Weber has also played as a soloist in orchestras, performing Mozart, Ravel, and Gershwin. On stages and in studios, Weber has collaborated with Tomasz Stańko, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, and Albert Mangelsdorff, to name a few.

The excitement about performing his own work with acclaimed musicians Weber and Janke is something that Lauri Kadalipp does not hide. An excitement which will most definitely have an impact on the audience at Christmas Jazz.
