It is no exaggeration to say that true legends will open Christmas Jazz 2024. The Crosscurrents Trio, featuring Dave Holland, Chris Potter and Eric Harland, is a group with an infinite musical vocabulary and exceptional sensitivity, capable of touching the hearts of any jazz or classical music lover. Collectively, these artists have earned tens of Grammy nominations and won four Grammy awards.

Bassist, composer and bandleader Dave Holland is a key figure in transitioning the bass from the swing and post-bop eras to contemporary versatility. His virtuosic technique and sense of rhythm, shaped by a profound respect for various styles and forms of expression, have established him as one of the most esteemed and sought-after bassists. Beyond his work on hundreds of albums and with numerous ensembles, Holland was a member of Miles Davis’s quintet from 1968 to 1970, and his contributions are featured on the albums In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew.

Chris Potter’s discography includes over 15 albums as a bandleader. As a collaborator, his saxophone playing features on more than 100 albums. He has received Grammy nominations for his solo work on Joanne Brackeen’s track In Vogue and for Steely Dan’s album Two Against Nature. Potter has performed and recorded with legends such as Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus, Jim Hall, Dave Douglas, Ray Brown and many others.

Having recorded several albums at ECM with Charles Lloyd, Zakir Hussain, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Brad Mehldau, Eric Harland is the most “in demand drummer” of his generation. When Eric Harland contributes… his intention is therefore to create the highest musical experience so that every listener may have insight… into the musical moment. He values the privilege of sharing the stage with masters such as Branford and Wynton Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, Savion Glover, SFJAZZ Collective and many others, as well as todays up and coming artist like Esperanza Spalding, John Mayer, Kevin Eubanks, Joshua Redman, Julian Lage, and many-many others. Harland is also known for dozens of film scores.
