23/11/2020 Jõulujazz 25 to start this week; Dirty Loops concert postponed

The organising team of Jõulujazz 2020 announces that this year’s festival, taking place from 26 November until 14 December, will offer a safe festival experience by following all the rules established by the Government of the Republic of Estonia and the Health Board. The concert of Dirty Loops, scheduled to take place on 27 November, will be postponed.

In connection with the worldwide situation due to the pandemic and the decisions of the health authorities of the Republic of Estonia, the organising team of Jõulujazz 2020 announces that the festival will comply with the reduced capacity and dispersion requirements. Tickets for oncerts are sold to fill no more than 50% of the capacity of the venue, with no more than 400 visitors attending the event. The audience and the organisers are obliged to wear a mask. The festival has also compiled a Safe Festival Guide, which is the basis for conducting the Jõulujazz festival. We can protect each other only if we are careful and adhere to the requirements when attending the events.

“Compared to the rest of the world, it is a privilege that Estonian cultural life continues and we can still bring musical experiences to the listeners. We will assure all jazz fans that we will strictly adhere to the established restrictions and that all current ticket holders will have access to the concerts. However, considering the capacity limits set for the events, we recommend you to hurry with your ticket purchase, because the seat numbers in the concert halls are strictly limited and there may not be enough tickets for everyone,“ says Eva Saar, Producer and Head of Marketing of the festival.

There have also been a few changes in the programme. Due to obstacles related to the spread of COVID-19, the performance of the Spanish flamenco quintet Los Aurora will be replaced by a concert of Mélodie Gimard Ensemble with their Numen project, accompanied by a flamenco dancer. The line-up includes Mélodie Gimard, Laura Marchal, Pablo Gomez and Martí Corbera.

The concert of the Swedish pop-jazz band Dirty Loops, which was due to take place on 27 November (initially scheduled for 25 April and postponed to 9 October), will be further postponed. “After much reflection with our team, we are very disappointed to have to postpone our concert at Vaba Lava. The world situation is very serious, as we are seeing firsthand in Sweden, and we do not feel comfortable putting on a concert and thus putting people at risk during a global pandemic. We feel it is our responsibility to do our part and encourage others to listen to and follow all local guidelines and precautions. As with everyone else, we miss live music, getting to travel and perform for/meet our fans which is one of the main reasons we make music. But we each need to ensure we do what we can so that we can return to normalcy, live music included. We look forward to hopefully returning to Estonia in 2021 once it is safe to do so,“ announces the band, hoping to meet the Estonian audience in the coming year.

The new date of the Dirty Loops concert will be announced on the websites of Jazzkaar and Piletilevi; holders of PDF tickets will be also notified by e-mail. Tickets already purchased will be valid on the new date. If the new concert date is not suitable for you, you can return your tickets or exchange these for a Jazzkaar gift voucher within two months from the announcement of the new date. The ticket return application form will be sent to PDF ticket holders by e-mail once the new concert date is known. Jazzkaar Festival encourages culture lovers to support the survival of the festival by not returning their tickets. We are grateful to our partners, the public and all jazz lovers for their understanding and cooperation.
