Brazilian bassist, composer and producer Frederico Heliodoro brings his latest work to the Autumn Jazz stage, alongside selected music from his albums The Weight of the News, Máximos Eventos and Gávea Days Compact. His music combines the rhythmic language of Brazil with contemporary jazz, improvisation and an atmospheric sense of sound, moving effortlessly between intimate moments and pulsating grooves.
Frederico Heliodoro has emerged as one of the leading musicians of Brazil’s new generation. His distinctive artistic voice has been shaped through collaborations with artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Milton Nascimento, Louis Cole and Zé Ibarra. Earlier this spring, Jazzkaar audiences had the chance to see Heliodoro performing alongside Ibarra, and he now returns to Estonia with his own project.
Heliodoro’s latest compositions were written in Rio de Janeiro and reflect the city’s many layers of atmosphere – its tropical warmth, nocturnal melancholy, and ever-changing urban landscape. Rather than looking back, this concert captures a moment in time, offering a snapshot of where the creative journey of this remarkable young yet mature musician currently stands.
