Beloved by Estonian audiences, bass virtuoso Petros Klampanis returns to Christmas Jazz to present his new album Latent Info, created together with pianist Kristjan Randalu and drummer Ziv Ravitz. The trio, who first met years ago in New York, demonstrate on this album that life in a bustling, fast-paced metropolis need not result in pure showmanship – what draws listeners in is a quiet and compelling poetry.
Hailed as a “bass ace” by Bass Player magazine, Greek-born Petros Klampanis is constantly exploring new ways to blend influences that range from classical to pop. His musical journey is marked by powerful melodicism, refined intonation, and a sound world that is distinctly his own. Klampanis has worked with a wide spectrum of artists well known to Jazzkaar audiences – from Shai Maestro, Snarky Puppy, and Gilad Hekselman to Anoushka Shankar. He has released seven full-length albums to date, the latest of which, Latent Info, feels perfectly in tune with the quiet of winter and the spirit of Christmas Jazz with its melodic depth, introspection, and lyrical warmth.
