For one unforgettable evening, the festival’s club stage will be taken over by three percussion virtuosos: Christian Lillinger from Germany, Arkady Gotesman from Lithuania, and Kresten Osgood from Denmark, alrady a familiar name to the local audience. These three artistic explorers share a deep passion for experimentation, discovery, and redefining the limits of drumming. Open your mind and let yourself be swept away by their bold and boundary-pushing rhythms!
Christian Lillinger is a drummer and composer with a career spanning over two decades. Trained in Dresden and now based in Berlin, Lillinger has collaborated with an array of renowned musicians, including Joachim Kühn, William Parker, and Luten Petrowsky. As a bandleader, he has earned numerous awards and accolades. He also heads the record label PLAIST, which is dedicated to releasing genre-defying, avant-garde music. His innovative style and creative journey have been documented in the film Against The Beat, showcasing his unique contributions to contemporary music.
Arkady Gotesman is a legendary percussionist, composer, jazz promoter, and educator, as well as a poet and theatre director. He has composed music for theatre productions and art installations, while also organising the Rhythm Music Festival in Šeduva. Gotesman frequently collaborates with contemporary music composers, expanding the boundaries of rhythm and sound. For his significant contributions to Lithuanian music, Gotesman has been honoured by both the Vilnius Jazz Festival and the Brištonas Jazz Festival.
Kresten Osgood is an exceptional drummer and improviser who has become a pivotal figure in Copenhagen’s music scene. With nearly 100 albums to his name, he has toured extensively around the world. Beyond his drumming expertise, Osgood is a true multi-talent – an accomplished rapper, composer, pianist, vocalist, saxophonist, and trumpeter! Jazzkaar audiences will remember Osgood from his 2024 performance at the festival, where he took the stage alongside Maria Faust.
