Poetic Ways (France) Seesam Insurance Presents!

The French quintet Poetic Ways emerged in 2021 with an improvised concert at the Marseille Conservatory. Their debut performance generated such a buzz that the group quickly became a sought-after act at festivals across France. Performing French chansons set to the poetry of Baudelaire, Verlaine, Ferré, and other literary icons, the ensemble masterfully weaves rich jazz arrangements with exceptional musical chemistry. This distinctive fusion has swiftly positioned Poetic Ways as a rising force on the European jazz scene.

The Poetic Ways ensemble presents a richly diverse repertoire, seamlessly balancing passionate energy with moments of deep introspection. Their modern interpretations of chanson and jazz classics create a truly immersive experience, which Tallinn audiences can enjoy on Thursday, 24 April at 7:00 PM at Von Krahl.

The shining star of the ensemble is vocalist Célia Kameni, who was awarded France’s highest jazz honour, Victoires du Jazz, in 2021. Her charismatic voice and compelling stage presence evoke influences from Nina Simone, Björk, and Nick Drake. Beyond her extensive work in the jazz world, Kameni has also lent her vocals to the Italian disco-funk sensation Nu Genea on their album Bar Mediterraneo and has performed alongside British electronic artist James Blake.

Raphaël Imbert is one of France’s leading saxophonists, with a career spanning over twenty albums. He leads multiple acclaimed jazz ensembles and has collaborated with some of the most respected names in French jazz, as well as saxophone legend Archie Shepp. The quintet also features Pierre-François Blanchard, a pianist known for his refined sensitivity and elegance; Pierre Fénichel, a bassist recognised for his work on numerous recordings, and Pierre-François Dufour, a top-tier French drummer who is also an accomplished cellist. Together, they form a powerhouse ensemble, blending tradition with innovation in a truly dynamic performance.
