Lakecia Benjamin is a New York-based saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator who seamlessly fuses various jazz styles with funk and R&B, creating a sound that is entirely her own. Her tone, often compared to Johnny Hodges of Duke Ellington’s big band, ranges from soft and tender to resonant and powerful. Beyond leading her own band, Lakecia has toured with an impressive lineup of renowned artists, including Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, and jazz luminaries Gregory Porter and Theo Croker, both of whom have recently graced the Tallinn stage.

At Jazzkaar, Lakecia Benjamin will present her album Phoenix Reimagined (Live), which was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2024.
