This is a concert you’ve been all dreaming of for a long time! Composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier, along with the a cappella sextet Take 6, are giving a much-awaited concert in Estonia. Despite Jacob Collier being considered a young musician and Take 6 having sung together for over 40 years, the British artist and the U.S. ensemble share excellent harmony and unique musical sensibility. Together, they have released 18 studio albums and won 14 Grammy awards.

Jacob Collier is a versatile artist whose work transcends genre boundaries. His debut album “In My Room,” released in 2016, became a hit in both the jazz scene and the broader music world. Jacob won his first Grammy awards for his arrangements of Stevie Wonder’s “You And I” and the theme music for “The Flintstones.” This was followed by sold-out tours and collaborations with renowned musicians such as Coldplay and John Mayer. To date, Collier has released four solo albums and won five Grammy awards.

Take 6 is an American a cappella group that started in the 80s, drawing inspiration from jazz and gospel. They have released 14 albums, won ten Grammy awards, and collaborated with artists like Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, and Quincy Jones, to name a few.

As Take 6 is one of the world’s best vocal ensembles, and Jacob Collier’s concerts bring thousands of people together to sing harmonies, Tartu – the city where the first nationwide song festival took place – is a symbolic place for Collier and Take 6 to perform in Estonia. The evening will be made even more special by the domestic favorite NOËP, who will bring a unique line-up to the stage.

The concert is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme.

Jacob Collier is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger, composer and producer, based in London, England. Hailed by many as one of the most prodigious and innovative musicians and thinkers of his generation, Jacob has proven himself worthy of every superlative that has been used to describe him. Spreading joy amongst a multitude of generations with a glorious child-like energy, an old soul, a knowledge of music that is second-to-none, and a tremendous warmth of humanity, Jacob’s style is flabbergastingly unique, combining elements from every genre under the sun — and his world is easy to get lost in.

Jacob, who is mostly self-taught, has been creating music for all of his 23 years. In 2012, he began to share some of these creations with the world via YouTube. These self-produced multi-layered multi-tracked audio-visual creations, borne from his family home in London, began to attract ears from all over the world, racking up tens of millions of views. One day in 2013, Quincy Jones’ ears reached Jacob’s sounds, and he signed Jacob to his management label, to help bring some of his ideas to life.

In 2016, Jacob released his debut album, In My Room, which was entirely self-recorded, arranged, performed and produced in his home in London.

Jacob then set out to bring his room to the stage. With the help of MIT PhD student Ben Bloomberg, he designed and built a groundbreaking one-man live performance vehicle which defies the musical laws of nature, featuring a circle of musical instruments, six simultaneous multi-instrumental loopers, a custom-designed vocal harmoniser instrument, a real-time reactive multi-Jacob video screen, and one Jacob in the centre of it all, The first ever performance was held at the Montreux Jazz Festival, 2015, where Jacob opened for Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. Minds were blown; goosebumps were risen. Jacob set out to tour the world.

From winning two Grammy awards for his debut album, to playing 150 shows in 26 countries on his One-Man-Show World Tour; to collaborations with Hans Zimmer, Herbie Hancock, Pharrell, Tori Kelly, Snarky Puppy, Metropole Orkest, Samsung and Apple; to speaking at the TED Conference 2017; to harmonising hundreds of fans’ #IHarmU melodies to crowdfund his musical adventures; to teaching masterclasses and confounding music theorists around the globe with chords and rhythms that shouldn’t exist; to improvising circlesongs with musicians on the streets of the world; to simply walking through the rain — Jacob’s life is full of different colours. He learns new things every day.

TAKE 6 (Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley), heralded by Quincy Jones as the “baddest vocal cats on the planet!,” is the quintessential a cappella group and the model for vocal genius. They are the preeminent and best a cappella group in the world.

With their outstanding appearance on CBS’s Homeward Bound: A GRAMMY® Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon (set for release soon), TAKE 6 thrilled the TV audience with their stunning rendition of Homeless!  A few months later, the phenomenal group did it again – this time with friend Michael McDonald and Don’t Worry Baby on A Grammy Salute to The Beach Boys!

2024 will bring another recording and brand-new show by this legendary group where the art of the song will meet the art of harmony as the group takes on songs first associated with jazz that transcended the genre – Rhapsody In Blue, Come Sunday, and more!

With 10 GRAMMY® Awards, 10 Dove Awards, a Soul Train Award, and as Members of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, this musical phenomenon has six virtuosic voices united in crystal clear harmony, against a backdrop of syncopated rhythms, innovative arrangements, and funky grooves that bubble into an intoxicating brew of gospel, jazz, R&B, and pop.

With praise from such luminaries as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston, the multi-platinum selling sextet has toured across the globe, collaborated across genres, and is recognized as the pre-eminent a cappella group in the world.

With their most recent recording ICONIC, TAKE 6 emerged on seven (7) Billboard Charts simultaneously and have seen their music played all over the country in various formats! This April 2022, the legendary group took to Capitol Hill for GRAMMY® On The Hill to advocate for musicians rights and work.

From televised vocal to the mania over singing driven comedy-dramas like Glee and Smash, TAKE 6 is the original torchbearer. Major public and corporate events remind everyone of this as TAKE 6 has triumphed among a gathering of stars including Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Nicks, and Ne-Yo at Walmart’s 50th Anniversary celebration; a SOLD-OUT audience and Standing Ovation at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards where TAKE 6 captivated the audience with their rendition, performing with and honoring legendary singer-songwriter Ben E. King, on his classic “Stand By Me.”  As a group that knows no musical bounds, they then brought the house down with their tribute to folk icon Woody Guthrie with “This Land Is Your Land.”

TAKE 6 has come a long way from their days at Huntsville, Alabama’s Oakwood College where McKnight formed the group as The Gentleman’s Estate Quartet in 1980. The group eventually became known as Alliance but when they signed to Reprise Records in 1987 they found that there was another group with the same name, so they became TAKE 6. Their self-titled debut CD won over jazz and pop critics and they’ve never slowed down.
