Festival Jazzkaar 2019 headliner is ten-time Grammy winner Bobby McFerrin with the programme “Gimme 5”. Concert tickets will be on sale on December 10 at 10:00am at Piletilevi. Concert will be brought to Estonia with the help of Viru Keskus.
Bobby McFerrin is known as a charismatic innovator of vocal jazz, his famous hit “Don’t Worry Be Happy” having instantly cemented itself as a timeless classic. Always an innovator, crossing musical borders and bringing different styles together, his one-man-orchestra approach has brought him 10 Grammy Awards and helped him sell tens of millions of albums. His audiences adore him. “I wish the audience would experience the same kind of freedom that I do when singing. I want them to continue singing next morning in the kitchen,” the maestro says. McFerrin will be performing at Jazzkaar for the second time, this time with American vocalists. Bobby McFerrin “Gimme 5” will take place at the Alexela Concert Hall on April 26, 7:00pm.
With a voice spanning 4 octaves, McFerrin is nothing short of a musical miracle. His timbre embodies many different global sounds – in addition to jazz one can hear the warm rhythms of world music, but also the catchiness of pop. Combining fluid melodies, compelling sounds, made-up languages and lofty harmonies, every performance of his becomes a world of its own.
In addition to solo performances, the renowned singer has collaborated with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and others. He has conducted symphony orchestras and brought together many a capella vocal groups. This time McFerrin will bring four outstanding American musicians along with him. The concert will be brought to Estonian audiences with the help of Viru Keskus.

Tallinn International Festival Jazzkaar celebrates its 30th birthday in Spring, filling Estonia with the best jazz from April 19 to 28. The home of the jubilee festival will once again be at the Telliskivi Creative City, but jazz will also sound beyond the capital.
