The city government of Tallinn has given Anne Erm a meritorius culture person award for her outstanding work in Estonian music field.
Vice-mayor Mihhail Kõlvart says that the award’s goal is to give credit to the culture people of Tallinn whose steady and long work in the culture field has made Tallinn’s culture life what it is. “Anne Erm does not need much introduction in Estonia. The jazz festival started by her in 1990 is one of the leading events in the music field in Estonia. In addition, she has written many articles and books and conducted radio shows. We wish to thank and acknowledge her contributions to our music and culture life,” adds Kõlvart.
Anne Erm is a long-time citizen of Tallinn, whose contribution to Estonian culture heritage is big. She is the head of Jazzkaar since it’s beginning in 1990, and also organises the festival Jõulujazz. She has been the music editor in Estonian National Broadcasting (Estonian Radiio) since 1970 where she has made many radio shows and series
She is an active member of the society and leading developer of the Estonian music culture. Anne Erm has received a Golden Microphone for her work in radio shows. She is the bearer of Estonian State Decoration The Order of the White Star IV class as well as the Order of French Arts and Literature.
The city award is given at a ceremony on May 15.
