Ester Rada and her band arrived on April 22nd in Estonia to perform for the audience of Jazzkaar. Her cross-cultural sound is a deep reflection of Israeli and Ethiopian’s heritage combination. Growing up in a highly religious Jewish family gave Rada the drive to change her way of life and fulfill her dream of creating music.
Critics describe her genre-mixing sound as “gracefully combining Ethio-Jazz, funk, soul and r&b, with mixed undertones of black grooves.”
Vaba Lava at Telliskivi district was crowded within minutes as the show started. The passionate and inspiring music impressed the audience. Ester’s virtuoso skills and open interaction built up a very positive and energetic atmosphere.
Tarmo, teacher at university: It was a great concert. Traditionally I always come with my family to Jazzkaar festival. I have heard about her before and that’s why I decided to see her performance.
The audience included festival sponsor Danske forum employees.
Kaido, client executive: This event was connected with Danske forum. We received invitations so it was a good chance to see Ester’s concert. I have not heard about her before, although the show was very interesting and inspiring. It was a bit disappointing that she did not come back in the end.
The performance’s high quality standards and professionalism attracted visitors, however, Ester Rada disappointed some of the people since she did not come back on the stage to perform concluding song.
Raiko, real estate expert: I came because of the client event. I found out about her from Jazzkaar, as it was announced in the program. I enjoyed the concert and I think the other visitors liked it as well. However, I was a bit sad that Ester did not perform an extra song for the audience. People were clapping and calling her to come back to the stage.
Kristi, IT expert: I liked the music rhythm and passion of the musician. People also danced and it created a nice atmosphere. Although, I was expecting for an extra song but she did not come back to the stage.
