Sara Mitra & her band will be opening the Christmas Jazz 2015 Festival this Saturday, 28 November at Vaba Lava. The tour, including the concert in Tallinn, of the Canadian singer Kellylee Evans has been cancelled due to health issues. The tickets purchased for Kellylee Evans’ concert will be valid for the concert of Sara Mitra, taking place this Saturday, 28 November 7pm at Vaba Lava.
In the 20 years of Christmas Jazz festival history, this is the first time a band has to be replaced. Sara Mitra is luckily available for concert in Tallinn in such a short notice just after several concerts at London Jazz Festival.
The agency representing Kellylee Evans has announced that due to an accidental fall she has suffered a concussion that does not allow her to travel. The concerts in Tallinn and France have been cancelled until further notice. The artist, her management, and Jazzkaar sincerely apologize for this situation – Jazzkaar send our best wishes for her recovery and hopefully the concert in Tallinn will take place in the near future.
Sara Mitra is a charming singer, composer, and band leader who will perform both jazz classics and own compositions at the opening of Christimas Jazz Festival accompanied by her trio. With her Bengali-Irish roots, she is inspired by folk, jazz, and blues. Sara Mitra’s wide repertoire covers music from Cole Porter to Bob Marley.
Her first album “April Song” (2010) was chosen as the “Album of the Year” by Jamie Cullum and with the recent release of her second album “Losing You” (2015) Cullum has said: “Wonderful singer who has an individual sound and a great choice of repertoire, she is one of my favourite British vocal jazz of recent times”. The producer of Sara Mitra’s second album is Ben Lamdin who has been also working with Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula.

Tickets purchased for the concert of Kellylee Evans will be valid for the concert of Sara Mitra, taking place at the same time in the same place – 28 November at 7 pm in Vaba Lava venue, Tallinn Estonia.
