Jazzkaar invited some of the great Estonian jazz musicians to a jam session. It was a great occasion for the musicians to compare and improve each other\u2019s skills, as a jam session should be.<\/p>\n
The session was lead by Peedu Kass<\/strong>, one of the well-known bass players in the European jazz scene. He featured together with Alexander Paal<\/strong> (saxophone), Joel-Rasmus Remmel<\/strong> (keyboards), Tatu R\u00f6nkk\u00f6<\/strong> (drums, Finland), Siim Aimla<\/strong> (saxophone), Kadri Voorand<\/strong> (voice), Liisi Koikson<\/strong> (voice).<\/p>\n The jam session was a great occasion for the musicians to compare and improve each other\u2019s skills, as a jam session should be. It was great to see the recent Young Jazz Talent Award<\/em> winner Alexander Paal and Danske Jazz Award<\/em> winner Kadri Voorand showing off\u00a0 their rightly-awarded abilities on improvisations and arrangements, too.<\/p>\n The atmosphere was very pleasant as some of the audience were sitting in front of the stage, others were talking by the corner caf\u00e8 like in the \u201840s and \u201850s where jam sessions were actually supposed to be meeting places. Kadri Voorand, also member of the band Estonian Voices<\/em>, demonstrated her alto talent performing the typical jazz vocal technique scat in a bright way. Then, the jazz standard My Funny Valentine<\/em>, performed by Liisi Koikson, reminded the audience to the same show tune performed by jazz masters such as Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald<\/strong> and Frank Sinatra<\/strong>. Moreover, in some particular moments, the stage lighting evoked even more these vintage vibes, as the headlights illuminated the stage from above, defining only the shapes of the instruments. <\/p>\n It was great that Jazzkaar organized a musical event like that.
