Estonian jazz legend and composer T\u00f5nu Naissoo<\/strong> will present his latest album, Naissoo Freeform Quintet<\/em>, at Jazzkaar Festival alongside his quintet. Released in November last year, the album was recorded over two improvisational sessions at Peeter Salmela\u2019s studio in Tallinn. Blending the deep tones of the bass clarinet with the warm textures of Rhodes, Moog, and ARP Odyssey synthesisers, the recording captures not only the sonic richness of these instruments but, most importantly, the chemistry and musical intuition between the exceptional jazz musicians involved. Infused with the adventurous spirit of free jazz and a nostalgic touch of the psychedelic era, the quintet\u2019s music is a must-experience for every jazz lover and rhythm music enthusiast.<\/p>\n

Throughout his illustrious musical career, T\u00f5nu Naissoo has collaborated with numerous ensembles, including Collage, Optimistid, Sinilind, Laine, Syntheses, and Kaseke, among many others. He has also performed with symphony orchestras and big bands. A graduate of the Tallinn State Conservatory, where he studied under Eino Tamberg, Naissoo has composed extensively for television, theatre productions, and films. At just 18 years old, he co-wrote the music for the cult film The Last Relic <\/em>together with his father, Uno Naissoo.<\/p>\n

Over the course of his long and prolific career, T\u00f5nu Naissoo has released 40 solo albums, including 16 in Japan. His recordings have also been published by Norway\u2019s JazzAggression Records and Russia\u2019s ArtBeat label. Stylistically, his playing spans a vast spectrum \u2013 from mainstream jazz and jazz-rock to chamber jazz and free jazz. As a remarkable improviser and a true connoisseur of keyboard instruments, Naissoo frequently ventures beyond the piano, incorporating electric keyboards, synthesisers, and the Hammond organ into his music.
