Eivør

The tunes dwell where land meets sea, and in the misty air hang whispered words. You can hear the country sing. In her lives the heritage. The echo. Passed on to her from days of yore, when the first fires were kindled on the green Faroe Islands far north in the ocean.

Eivør has the power to take words out of the mist and music out of the surf. She has got the gift of creating songs in which you hear the grass grow and the waves wash the shore. As they have for ages.

Eivør  is a singer, guitarplayer and songwriter. She grew up in Gøta, a little village, in the remote Faroe Islands in 1983. All her life Eivør has felt the urge to create and perform. At the age of fifteen the young hopeful girl left school in order to dedicate all of her time to what she loved doing – writing music and playing music. Her first album “Eivør Pálsdóttir” was released when she was 16.

Much has changed since then. Eleven years on, seven  albums and numerous awards later, she is now a mature and experienced artist, and has become one of the brightest stars on the North Atlantic horizon. She has amazed and astonished audiences across the world with her extraordinary music and charisma.

However in essence Eivør is still the same Eivør; driven by her passion for music, she is deeply rooted in her homeland’s strong heritage. What makes her so special is not just her inspiring and breathtaking voice, but the fact that she is an all-round artist – a painter, storyteller, poet and composer. All this creative energy combines into a spellbinding and remarkable expression on stage, which has the ability to touch the innermost and unexplored emotions in its audiences.

Eivør is currently working on her upcoming album, which will be released late august this year and you will definitely get a taste of the new material.
